For the most part, as we age, we usually would like to continue residing in our familiar environment where we can live out the rest of our days. So the choice is pretty simple. So as Baby Bloomers gets closer and closer to this lifestyle, home care agencies should be preparing for the influx.
According to a survey that was conducted by NBC News, 89% of those aged 50 and older would like to stay in their own homes as they age. 95% of those 65 and older said they too wish to remain in their home or near relatives.
With that said, most of our elderly population would prefer to continue in their familiar environment as they complete their cycle of aging. At this point, we are looking at retirement for most of our baby boomers now considered as senior citizens, and we will, at some point in time, need the assistance of the home care industry. The industry will be growing, and we have to be prepared to be able to offer the care that will be necessary for our seniors. Agencies are popping up every day, joining the ranks of currently operating agencies. I don't know if coming into the industry is going to be enough.
